A: HOSTS Learning is a leading provider of classroom and mentoring & intervention solutions that support the teaching process and supplemental mentoring programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade for more than 35 years. Our solid reputation was earned from our structured mentoring program which was the only program mentioned by name in the report language for the No Child Left Behind Act and IDEA reauthorization.
HOSTS Learning currently offers two powerful solutions combining technology and hands-on resources that can be utilized for schools or districts:
HOSTS Classroom Solution - A powerful Classroom Solution that combines a dynamic instructional management system (IMS) with research-based best practice strategies to enable classroom teachers to easily align student assessment data to existing curriculum resources.
HOSTS Mentoring & Intervention Solution - Our Mentoring and Intervention solution is designed to specifically address the individual learning needs of struggling K-12 students using both technology and proven mentoring techniques. This solution can be used in learning centers, after school or extended-day programs, or by engaging community mentors.

A: HOSTS Learning programs are flexible and can be crafted to suit your school and district needs: our solutions can be used to improve overall adequate yearly progress (AYP), as well as for afterschool, special needs and English language acquisition programs. Our consultants all have education backgrounds, and can discuss any special requirements you may have and help you determine funding options, as well.

A: Our solutions are self-contained technology coupled with physical materials and will complement, not conflict, with your existing programs or software. The exclusive database in the HOSTS Instructional Management System (IMS) is designed to align to more than 50,000 curriculum and instructional resources from over 340 curriculum publishers, so it should also easily work with your school or district's existing programs for classroom or afterschool programs.

A: Both of HOSTS Solutions are based on curriculum resources aligned to state and national standards.

A: HOSTS Educational Consultants have experience applying our programs to national funding grants such as Title I and 21st Century Schools. Some have experience in finding corporate and private financing to offer as well.
See our "Funding" page for more help.

A: HOSTS Solutions are designed to work with existing lesson plans, not replace them, to increase effectiveness not add another program to learn. They are targeted to help standard classroom or intervention students get extra help in core skills of Language Arts and Math.

A: We offer PD through our Professional Growth and Learning program, which is included in our Classroom Solution and is optional in our Mentoring & Intervention Solution. It's based on the research of Marzano, Reeves, Pickering and Pollock and is a combination of Web and site- based training.

A: The HOSTS IMS is our instructional management tool that helps educators make classroom time more efficient. Based on an exclusive database containing over 50,000 curriculum and instructional resources from more than 340 publishers, it aligns individual student assessments to your school or district's existing resources to create learning paths for each student. This allows teachers to more efficiently group students by their strengths and weaknesses for each subject and provide a customized, adjustable learning process throughout the year.

A: The HOSTS IMS is a Web-based management tool, so it is inherently flexible. Should your district have specific needs for a particular curriculum or instructional resource, we can discuss options available to you.

A: Unlike other instructional management programs, HOSTS IMS does not restrict curriculum and instructional resources to any one publisher. We can align to more than 340 publishers, large and small, even some that are older for schools that have not yet upgraded their materials.

A: Absolutely. You could use Classroom Solution for standard classroom or district instruction and implement Mentoring as an intervention or afterschool program. They offer different benefits and do not cancel each other out.

A: Yes. Our solutions are based on the research of Dr. Benjamin Bloom of the University of Chicago, which supports that a combination of mastery learning and tutorial learning produce the best results. In addition, our solutions have been proven effective through peer-reviewed and juried research.
